Project Description
GPA was the design architect for the $30 million Terminal I expansion
and modification at the Salt Lake City International Airport. Phase I
included the expansion of the ticket lobby and major remodel of the
central lobby. Under Phase II, the existing ticketing was to be
replaced and new in-line baggage screening facilities and Airline
Ticket Offices (ATO’s) constructed. Working with a local architect of
record, GPA provided planning and design for both program phases along
with construction documents for selected building components. A number
of factors made this project very challenging; the multi phasing to
allow continuous operation during construction and the modernization
and/or upgrade of existing infrastructure within building code and
budget constraints.
